Danville nursing home worker punches patient
Sharoia Hill, 28, of Danville, Illinois was arrested for punching an 87 year old Alzheimer's patient at a nursing home where she worked as an aide.
According to Lt. Ed Ogle of the Champaign County Sheriff's Dept., Hill assaulted the patient because the patient had an item that she wanted back. Hill, who works in the Alzheimer's unit, punched the patient twice in the face.
Hill is facing up to a $25,000 fine and 5 years in prison.
Nora Stewart, president of the nursing home union says she is shocked that this happened. "I've been president and I've been in the union for 11 years and I've never seen anything like this."
The nursing home isn't commenting on what happened, but they say the incident is under investigation.
The East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging has begun it's own investigation into the matter.
