Truck driver killed at Washburn Illinois Construction Site

Police are waiting the results of an autopsy on a a man who was killed while unload his tractor trailer at a construction site in central Illinois road construction site.

The man, whose identity has not been released, died about 5pm on Monday. His name will not be released until after his family is notified.

Police say the driver was having difficulties unloading his truck when the load shifted and fell on top of the cab where he was sitting.

Overturned flatbed on Illinois Highway

Workers spent a few of hours working to clean up the scene of an overturned flatbed truck in Illinois.

It happened just before 10:00 a.m. on Friday on I-55/I-70 just west of Exchange Avenue in East St. Louis.

All lanes headed west were closed emporarily in that area and traffic was backed up for more than a mile.

All lanes have since reopened.

No word yet on what caused the accident

Freeport, Ill. — A Leonore man has been charged with several felonies for allegedly hitting striking three pedestrians with his automobile in the parking lot of Jumpin’ Joe’s in Freeport early Sunday.

Joseph E. Bierbrodt, 41, of Leonore was arrested Sunday and is charged with aggravated battery, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, and aggravated reckless driving. Leonore is located in LaSalle County, Illinois. Authorities are still investing the case.

Investigators say the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the Jumpin’ Joe’s parking lot, 1100 W. Galena Ave. Eyewitnesses report there was a fight in the parking lot involving several people before the vehicle crash. At some point, Bierbrodt got involved in the fight but it is unclear as to why, according to Sgt. Jeff Mastroianni of the Freeport Police Department.

“Some witnesses say there was a fight involving others (and that) Joseph got involved,” Mastroianni said. “Some said he was trying to break it up.”
