Chicago: semi-trailer rollover on I-90

At 5:30 a.m. today, a semi-trailer carrying 50,000 pounds of bread collided with a minivan on I-90. The collision caused the semi to roll over. The semi was headed westbound at the time of the accident.

According to an Illinois State Police Tollway District master sergeant, the driver of the semi and the driver and passengers in the mini- van sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Illinois teen killed after being crushed by dump truck

Ryan Hennemann, 13, of southern Illinois, was killed on Saturday in a freak accident involving a dump truck.

Ryan was on his way to see his girlfriend at the time when the driver of the dump truck offered topay Ryan and his friend to help him dump some gravel near a pile of rocks. Somehow, the dump truck tipped over ton Ryan and crushed him.

The driver of the druck was arrested because he was driving on a suspended license. There is also an oustanding warrant from California on the driver.

Illinois Truck Driver falls asleep at the wheel

Metra Train service was disrupted near Libertyville on Tuesday when a semi-truck driver struck a pillar just off the Tri-State tollway sending large chunks of concrete onto the railroad tracks.

The driver of the semi-truck, who remains unidentified, fell asleep at the wheel and drove his truck off the Tri-State Tollway just shortly after 5:00 a.m. According to Illinois State Police, the tollway overpass suffered extensive damage, but will stay open during repairs.

The driver was taken to Lake Forest Hospital with minor injuries.
